The Lectio Book Award Reading Program was founded in October 2015 by a committee of Austin, Texas librarians. An official Selection Committee was formed in February 2016 with a goal of increasing student engagement with high-quality and high-interest books. After a successful inaugural school year, the Lectio Book Award’s volunteer committee of educators expanded their network to include schools across the state, and is now reaching students in both private and public schools across the nation and Canada.
